Tenor Yinghui He currently lives in Ann Arbor, MI where he is pursuing his Specialist in Music degree in vocal performance at SMTD (School of Music, Theatre and Dance), University of Michigan. He received a MM degree in vocal performance at SMTD and a BM degree in vocal performance from University of Massachusetts – Amherst.  During the process of pursuing his degrees, he has performed leading roles including Tamino from The Magic Flute, Don Ottavio from Don Giovanni, Sam Polk from Susannah, and Aeneas from Dido and Aeneas. In 2022, he performed his first professional role as Frederick in Pirates of Penzance with Cedar Rapids Opera.

Aside from Operatic repertoire, Yinghui also takes deep interest in art song repertoire. Having performed works by various composers, he is especially familiar with works by French composer Francis Poulenc and German composer Robert Schumann. His experience with art songs has provided him with musical sensitivity as well as dynamic flexibility.  Apart from performing on an operatic stage, he finds great enjoyment singing with a pianist, and cherishes the artistic intimacy between the singer and the pianist.  He believes such connection between himself and another individual, channeled through musical collaboration, is an essential source of his inspiration and meaning.
