Hampton Roads, Richmond, Fairfax, VA (Oct. 30, 2025) – In response to the ongoing government shutdown, Virginia Opera is extending a special offer of complimentary tickets to its upcoming production of Cinderella for individuals directly affected by the closure.
The offer provides up to two free tickets per person to attend Cinderella at the Harrison Opera House in Norfolk on November 7 and 9 or the Dominion Energy Center in Richmond on November 14 and 16. Tickets may be reserved by phone or in person at the Virginia Opera Box Office, located at 160 W Virginia Beach Boulevard in Norfolk.
Individuals requesting complimentary tickets will be asked to confirm their government agency affiliation at the time of reservation. Tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis and may not be resold. Any resold tickets will not be honored for entry.
“Our community has always been at the heart of what we do,” said Adam Turner, Artistic Director and Chief Conductor of Virginia Opera. “We hope this gesture provides a small respite and a joyful evening at the theater for those navigating uncertainty during the shutdown.”
Rossini’s Cinderella is a sparkling tale of hope, kindness, and transformation – the perfect reminder that compassion and perseverance make the world a better place for all of us.
The Center for the Arts at George Mason University is also offering complimentary tickets for individuals impacted by the shutdown to attend the Cinderella performances on November 22 and 23 in Fairfax.
