Voices Around Virginia

Musical Storytime at Slover Library

Thanks Slover Library here in Norfolk for the opportunity to perform Virginia Opera’s new educational program “Musical Storytime” in their beautiful atrium on a sunny Saturday morning.  Singing artists, Jamilla Ford and Tjaden O-Dowd-Cox, had great fun reading and singing to a happy crowd of families and Library staff.   It was a treat to share a bit of opera laced with classic fairytale storytelling plus some conducting practice on the side.  Thanks again to the City of Norfolk, Dominion Energy and Altria for helping to fund this performance!

We appreciated the comments from many of the audience members who joined us that morning:

“Music story time is a perfect was to introduce a new generation of opera patrons.”

“The program allowed everyday people the opportunity to hear world-class singing. Children were exposed to an art form that they might not otherwise listen to or hear.”

“Wonderful musical performances and unusual for children and adults alike.”
