Karen Cohen is an attorney at Gentry Locke in Richmond and is the daughter of Bernard (“Bernie”) Cohen, one of the Lovings’ lawyers in the landmark Supreme Court case, Loving v. Virginia. Referencing the court papers that were filed in state and federal courts in the Lovings’ case, and the court decisions that were handed down along the way, Karen tells the story of the legal battles waged by her father and his then law partner, Phil Hirschkop, in their determined fight for justice. Karen brings a personal dimension to the story with a tribute to her father who died in October 2020.
