Helen Aberger

Helen makes her Virginia Opera debut as Assistant Director for Siegfried and The Barber of Seville. An active stage director and intimacy choreographer in the Maryland/DC area, she takes pride in building community through live performance. Helen holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music from University of Miami’s Frost School of Music. Her humble beginnings in opera included acting and dancing as a supernumerary, and playing oboe in the pit. Post-graduation and well into a career in arts administration, she became a stage director (specializing in operetta, specifically the works of Gilbert & Sullivan), and more recently an intimacy professional for live theatre.
