Elary Mede

Elary Mede is a Haitian soprano who recently earned her Masters in vocal performance at Michigan State University. Her love of singing started at a young age while singing at her church in Haiti. Elary earned her B.F.A  in vocal performance at Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 2021.While there Elary had the opportunity to perform several roles. Roles such as: Barbarina in Figaro! Figaro ! Figaro !, Johanna in Sweeney Todd, and Donna Anna in Don Giovanni. Notable concert performances at her university include, soprano soloist for the Ein deutsches requiem and the Mozart Requiem. Elary has received first place awards in her category while competing at both district and regional level at the National Association of Teachers of Singing competition. In 2019, Elary won the Butler Symphony Collegiate Concerto Competition and performed the winning selections with the symphony. During the fall of 2021, Elary received the Encouragement Award from the Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition at the Michigan District. Elary joined Des Moines Metro Opera’s Apprentice Artist Program in the summer of 2022, where she covered the role of Clara in Porgy and Bess. While at Michigan State University she sang the roles of “soprano soloist” in their production of Three from the Hearth and Alice Ford in Falstaff. Most recently, Elary returned to Des Moines Metro Opera where she covered the role of Micaëla in their production of Carmen. While at Des Moines she sang the roles of Alcina and Anna Bolena for their various scenes programs.
