Baritone Adam Partridge is emerging as a compelling young artist, praised for his rich vocal timbre and commanding stage presence. Recent prominent roles include Prince Tarquinius in Britten’s The Rape of Lucretia at Rice University, as well as the title character in Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin and Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi. In 2022, he made his academic principal debut as Ottone in L’incoronazione di Poppea.
Mr. Partridge recently completed two seasons as a Studio Artist with Wolf Trap Opera, performing Benoit and Alcindoro in La Bohème and covering key roles in Silent Night, Seven Deadly Sins, Semele, and Don Giovanni. Last summer he joined Opera Theatre of Saint Louis as a 2025 Gerdine Young Artist, covering Lindon in the world premiere of This House and Dr. Falke in Die Fledermaus, while debuting as Starveling in A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
On the concert stage, he has appeared as soloist in Rejoice in the Lamb, Messiah, Fauré’s Requiem, Mozart’s Grand Mass in C Minor, Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony, and Carmen (concert version) as Escamillo.
A rising competitor, Mr. Partridge was the 2025 Connecticut District winner in the Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition and advanced to the New England Regionals. He was also a 2024 Los Angeles District winner and Western Region special encouragement recipient. Additional honors include top prizes in the Jeannie and Stephen Foster Voice Competition and Stetson University’s Giffin Voice Competition.
Originally from Jacksonville, FL, he holds a B.M. from Stetson University and an M.M. in Opera Performance from Rice University.
Mr. Partridge joins Virginia Opera as a 2025-2026 Herndon Foundation Emerging Artist.
