Dr. Eric Caplan, Visiting Professor of History at Wesleyan University, is the author of Mind Games: American Culture and the Birth of Psychotherapy and is completing a forthcoming book titled Do No Harm: Osheroff v. Chestnut Lodge and the Future of American Psychiatry. During his research for Do No Harm, Dr. Caplan had the opportunity to interview Philip Hirschkop, who played a central role in both the Osheroff case and, notably, served as chief counsel to Richard and Mildred Loving in the landmark civil rights case Loving v. Virginia. Building on these interviews and with Do No Harm nearing completion, Dr. Caplan has begun work on a biography of Philip Hirschkop.
