Praised by Opera News for his “galvanizing presence,” the “dashing tenor” Jonathan Tetelman is a newly sought after artist with an emerging international career. Jonathan has captivated audiences around the world with his “spontaneously genuine” characters according to The Brooklyn Discovery & Parterre, along with his “robust sound” and “free top”.
Last season, he joined the Metropolitan Opera roster as Flavio in their new production of Bellini’s Norma. Internationally, he was also seen with Milan Festival Orchestra in Lake Como performing Verdi’s Messa da Requiem, and he made his Chinese debut performing the role of Rodolfo in Puccini’s La Boheme at the Fujian Grand Theater. He was a featured soloist with The Orchestra Now for Elgar’s masterpiece The Dream of Gerontius, the New England Symphonic Ensemble for Mozart’s Coronation Mass in C in Carnegie Hall, The St. George’s Choral Society, performing both Dvorak’s Stabat Materand Requiem Mass as well as the Greenwich Choral Society, performing Puccini’s Messa di Gloria and Bizet’s Te Deum.
Jonathan’s 2018 Opera season will include, Rodolfo in La Boheme, and Captain Marco in Tabasco with the New Orleans Opera for their 75th Anniversary season. Jonathan will also make two role debuts, performing the Duke in Verdi’sRigoletto with both The Berkshire Opera Festival & The Gulfshore Opera, as well as Werther at Teatro Solis in Montevideo, Uruguay. Additional concert appearances are in New York City for Verdi’s Messa da Requiem and inCarmen as Don Jose in Washington DC.
Future engagements to look forward to include, Rodolfo in La boheme(English National Opera, 2018/19), B.F. Pinkerton in Madame Butterfly(Virginia Opera, 2019), Mario Cavarodossi in Tosca (Aix-en-Provence, 2019) and the Duke in Rigoletto (Austin Opera, 2019).
Jonathan was a Finalist for the Metropolitan Opera National Council in the New York District in 2017. Additionally, Jon was awarded First Prize in the New York Lyric Opera Competition as well as the Audience Favorite Prize for the Mildred Miller Competition in 2016.
