Important Update

THE PIRATES OF PENZANCE

Virginia Opera truly values your support of our company, just as we share your passion for our tremendous art form.

From the onset of the pandemic last March, we have been forced to make a number of very difficult decisions.  Always, our primary goal has been the safety of both our artists and our audiences.   As we explored options to perform that would adhere to the guidance of health officials and the regulations of our state and local governments, we reached the unavoidable conclusion that it is simply not possible for us to produce opera in our theaters safely before a vaccine for COVID-19 is available, accessible, and in wide use.

Therefore, we make the most difficult decision in our history — to cancel all the scheduled main stage productions in our 2020-2021 Season.

If you have purchased tickets:

  • Donate the full or partial value of your ticket(s) to Virginia Opera. You will receive an acknowledgement letter for the amount of your contribution which you may utilize as a charitable tax deduction, depending on your personal circumstances.
  • Renew your same seat(s) for the 2021-2022 Season and ensure that you are ready when we return to the stage.
  • Refund the full or partial value of your ticket purchase.
  • Request a combination of these options.

No matter your choice, our box office representatives are available to assist. They can be reached at 866.673.7282, or via email at info@vaopera.org.  We are also able to process your requests at https://ticketing.vaopera.org/account/upcomingevents/.  You will simply need your login and password to access your account.  We would be grateful if you would let us know your preference by April 1, 2021.
