Soprano Adriane S. Kerr is both an active musician and teacher and delights in learning and growing through both of her professions. Hailing from Norfolk, Ms. Kerr earned a B.M. in Vocal Performance from Virginia Commonwealth University, followed by an M.M. in Vocal Performance from the New England Conservatory. Having enjoyed a wonderfully diverse career, performing on stages of all sizes, from opera houses to elementary school auditoriums, she has sung with Berkshire Opera, Virginia Opera, Wildwood Opera, Glimmerglass Opera, and, most recently, with the Tidewater Opera Initiative. Ms. Kerr has performed such roles as Marcellina in The Marriage of Figaro, La Principessa in Suor Angelica, Dame Marthe in Faust, Gertrude in Romėo et Juliette, Baba in The Medium, and the Sorceress in Dido and Aeneas. One of the great joys of her life has been teaching and she has been on the staff of the Vocal Music Department at the Governor’s School for the Arts since 2012, where she teaches private voice, diction, and theory. She is delighted to be singing with Virginia Opera, her hometown opera company, which has supported and energized the arts for so many years!
