Virginia Opera Emerald Anniversary Gala (Norfolk)

Virginia Opera and the Virginia Opera Guild are excited to announce the Emerald Anniversary Gala.

Join Virginia Opera with more than 500 guests Saturday, March 27, 2010 at Norfolk's Half Moone Cruise and Celebration Center.

The Gala is to raise funds to support Virginia Opera's educational endeavors and to increase its visibility while celebrating the 35th Anniversary of the organization.

The Gala may be black tie but "WOW!" will it be fun for all! Starting at 6:00pm we will enjoy an evening of dinner, dancing, entertainment, a silent auction and tons of friends. See and be seen!

Featuring music from the popular band Off The Record!

Tickets $125 per person for a night you will never want to forget!

Annual Spring Dinner Gala 2010 (Richmond) - April 21, 2010
6:30 pm - Virginia Opera’s Richmond Annual Spring Dinner Gala is Central Virginia’s only Opera fundraising event.

The Gala takes place on Wednesday, April 21, 2010 at 6:30 p.m., at The Commonwealth Club (401 West Franklin Street, Richmond, Va).

The event features a cocktail hour, a seated dinner, a live performance by outstanding opera singers, and an auction of fine and exciting items.

The Gala is traditionally a sold-out event, and attracts Richmond’s finest; everyone from devoted opera lovers to those brand-new to the family of Virginia Opera!

WCVE-FM Opera Talk: Porgy and Bess (Central Virginia) - April 28, 2010
1:00 pm-3:00 p.m. - Can't get enough of Virginia Opera's Dr. Glenn Winters? Want to grab an earful before you enjoy his pre-opera discussion 45 minutes before curtain at one of Virginia Opera's performances of The Gershwins' "Porgy and Bess" this weekend at the Carpenter Theatre at Richmond Centerstage?

Tune in and turn up the volume! Dr. Winters will be on WCVE-FM 88.9 Richmond public radio Wednesday, Apr. 28 from 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. discussing the sizzlin' "Porgy and Bess". For more information check out the WCVE-FM website.

Virginia Opera's production of The gershwins' "Porgy and Bess" will be on stage at the Carpenter Theatre Friday, April 30, Saturday, May 1, and Sunday, May 2. Dr. Glenn Winters provides a free pre-opera discussion 45 minutes prior to curtain for each Richmond performance.

His discussions fill fast to a standing room attendance. It is recommended attendees come early to enjoy the pre-opera discussion. ...more info
